Greg and George are Freezing Right Now!
In July of 2007, Hirefactor opened its second office in Portland, OR!
Both Greg Taff and George Mastin took on the honorable task of opening its doors. For those of you who had the chance to work with Greg and George, they would like to extend their gratitude for the opportunity to work with you and they would also like you to know that they miss the sun and the weather in San Diego.

The Witch Took Home the Dough!
For those of you who are acquainted with Cheryl Ward, she held the honor of winning our First Annual Halloween Costume Contest. Dressed in her witch’s wardrobe, she stole the show and blew the other contestants out of the water! Way to go Cheryl! For doing so, she was awarded with a $50.00 gift card. Next years grand prize will be $100 and it is open to our external associates as well. More information on how to participate in the contest will be available in the coming months.

We’re Growing!
November 2007 marked Hirefactor’s 2nd anniversary in San Diego! We are very grateful for the progress we have made so far. You have helped us grow and we look forward to working together in 2008.

Community Involvement:
  • As you all know, San Diego’s destructive wildfires made October a difficult time for our community. We extend our condolences to those affected. In an attempt to help alleviate the burden of the devastation, Hirefactor contributed approximately $1,000.00 in gift cards to those affected.
  • In an effort to brighten the holiday spirits of those less fortunate, Hirefactor contributed gift cards and presents to a local family. We were pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to such an amazing and worthy cause.
  • The HireFactor San Diego team will be attending The Muscular Dystrophy Associations “Stride and Ride” benefit on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008. If you are, or know anyone who is interested in helping to support cause, you may find more information at www.mda.org.

The office is a common place to contract the common cold or even flu. Below are “Ten Tips to Avoid Colds and Flu"

From Mark Cichocki, R.N.,
About.com Health's Disease and Condition content is reviewed by Susan Olender, MD
The cold and flu season has arrived and according to all accounts it's a rough one. Here are ten simple tips; ten healthy habits that will help you avoid colds and the flu.
  1. Bar soap is a perfect breeding ground for viruses and bacteria. Wash your hands frequently with liquid antibacterial soap instead of bar soap.
  2. Don't share drinking glasses. Instead, use disposable cups in the kitchen and bathroom, using each cup only once and then disposing.
  3. Use disposable tissues when blowing your nose; use each tissue once, throw it away then wash your hands thoroughly.
  4. Colds and flu are often spread by hand-to-hand contact. Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth after being exposed to viruses or bacteria.
  5. Bacteria and viruses can live on hand towels and sponges for hours. Use disposable paper napkins and towels in the kitchen.
  6. To kill bacteria and viruses, wash toys regularly in warm, soapy water.
  7. If you have to sneeze and a tissue is unavailable, sneeze into your shoulder not your hands to avoid spreading germs.
  8. Frequently clean surfaces such as stair rails, telephones, counter tops and door knobs to avoid hand-to-hand spread of viruses.
  9. Germs remain in stagnant air; open windows when weather permits to circulate fresh air.
  10. Avoid smoking at home. Smoking is a respiratory irritant that increases susceptibility to viruses that cause colds and the flu.
Developing simple, healthy habits like those above can help you stay healthy during this cold and flu season and throughout the year.
